How can we prevent waterborne diseases amongst the surrounding residents of the Citarum River in Java? Ira wants to find out!
The Citarum River in Indonesia is one of the most important rivers in Java, as well as one of the most polluted rivers in the world. That has implications for the health of surrounding residents. Ira comes from Java, but is doing her master’s at the University of Wageningen. For her thesis, she would like to develop a model with which she can assess the concentration of pathogens in the water in order to recommend a solution to policy makers.
Ira could put the research grant to good use in funding her research in Indonesia.
